At Anaya’s Care, we believe in nurturing not just individuals but entire communities—and what better time to spread kindness than during one of the Philippines’ most cherished celebrations: Flores de Mayo. This May, we joined the faithful at Saint Ezekiel Moreno Quasi Parish in Barangay Caidiocan, Valencia, in honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary through the traditional flower offerings and prayers. As part of our community outreach, Anaya’s Care provided snacks for the children who participated in the daily devotions, bringing extra joy to their meaningful involvement in this beautiful celebration.
Flores de Mayo, or Flowers of May, is a Catholic devotion celebrated across the Philippines throughout the month of May. It is a time when the faithful—especially children—bring fresh flowers to offer at the altar of the Virgin Mary, often accompanied by the praying of the Rosary and Marian songs. In parishes like Saint Ezekiel Moreno in Caidiocan, this devotion is more than a religious tradition—it’s a way of bringing families, neighbors, and entire communities together in reflection, prayer, and gratitude.
The celebration of Flores de Mayo usually culminates in the Santacruzan, a grand procession that commemorates Queen Helena’s legendary search for the Holy Cross. Young women, dressed in stunning gowns, portray various religious and historical characters, with Reyna Elena as the central figure.
While not every barangay hosts a full Santacruzan, the spirit of devotion and joy is felt in every prayer, flower offering, and shared moment.
This year, Anaya’s Care proudly supported the children of Saint Ezekiel Moreno Quasi Parish by sharing snacks and smiles during the Flores de Mayo festivities. For us, this simple gesture is part of a bigger mission—to be present, to give back, and to uplift the communities we are privileged to serve. Seeing the joy on the children’s faces reminded us why community engagement is at the heart of what we do. These young devotees, with flowers in hand and hearts full of faith, embody the values that Flores de Mayo celebrates: innocence, devotion, and unity.
Flores de Mayo is more than a tradition—it’s a living expression of Filipino faith and identity. In participating and supporting such events, we at Anaya’s Care reaffirm our commitment not only to wellness and caregiving but also to the preservation and celebration of Filipino culture and community spirit.
